Jewelry
Unfortunately, my wife wasn’t ALWAYS my wife and being the average man I am, I needed to have a trick up my sleeve to make me stand out of the crowd. Jewelry. That was the solution. I wanted to try using a few materials I hadn’t used before as well, so this was the perfect excuse to buy some platinum, timascus, and diamond. It started as earrings that I spent my nights machining one step at a time, slowly applying radii by hand with one arm in a cast, and forming platinum around countless dies until the shape was just right. It rapidly grew into long nights obsessing about the tiniest of details in CAD designing a ring and and machining a grain-matched puzzle box to go along with it. Needless to say she did say “yes”, and these will not be the last pieces I make for her.
